I’m trying to reset how I approach landscape photography. There are so many clean, technically great shots out there. I think many of them (including my own) often lack any message or personality. In the last year I have always tried to add a human element and that worked well for the series on Hockley Wood. I’m now having a think about what I want to show/tell - work in progress. Anyway the above photo was taken on a new camera..its a Fuji GFX50r with 45mm lens, this allows me to take hand-held shots in relatively dark environments. This was taken on an early morning walk in the woods, then off out to Derek’s funeral.

Just when I thought I was done with black and white, and maybe street photography I experienced a few days in Paris during October. Great lighting created many opportunities. The photos I preferred are those with a human element and tell a story. This photo was taken in the Tuilerie Gardens is one of my favourites.

In a previous shoot I had the idea for capturing a train passing this shelter along the coastal path. There were a few of us on a camera club trip and we waited for a train to pass. There were some confused people and a fox that walked past us, standing in the dark with our tripods.
